Vision Processor (ViP)

Hnc, Inc.

Vision Processor (ViP) is a new type of high-performance systolic arrayVLSI chip set for advanced vision processing. It performs high-speedconventional and neural network image processing functions, imagearithmetic (e.g., subtracting two images), and 2-D convolutions witharbitrarily sized kernel, while maintaining 100 percent resourceutilization. ViP can perform an 8x8 convolution on 512x512 grayscaleimages in less than seven milliseconds. Dual image arithmetic and logicaloperations are processed at the rate of 40 megapixels per second.A ViP chip set is supplied as a daughtercard that attaches to HNC'sBalboa coprocessor. Balboa and ViP combined offer high-performance for awide range of image analysis and processing applications.
